THEY'VE NEVER SOUNDED BETTER!
ernie garcia | LONG BEACH, CA. | 10/23/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"WHEN I WAS GROWING UP IN THE 50'S AND 60'S THERE WAS NOT AS MUCH PEER PRESSURE AS NOW, BUT YOU JUST COULD NOT TELL CERTAIN PEOPLE WHAT YOU DID LIKE. MAKE SENSE? WELL FOR INSTANCE, IT WAS CONSIDERED RATHER GEEKY TO ADMIT YOU WATCHED LAWRENCE WELK.BUT WHAT IF YOU WANTED TO SEE THE LENNON SISTERS? AFTER ALL, THEY WERE ALL BEAUTIFUL AND COULD HARMONIZE BEAUTIFULLY.THEY WERE LIKE THE FORBIDDEN SIRENS! THEY DID A GREAT RENDITION OF "SAD MOVIES MAKE ME CRY" BUT YET CROSS-OVER COUNTRY SINGER SUE THOMPSON'S VERSION MANAGED TO GET ALL THE AIR-PLAY, NO DOUBT BECAUSE SHE WASN'T PART OF LAWRENCE WELK! THEY WERE ABLE TO HARMONIZE SONGS LIKE "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A BABY TO CRY" BUT THE RADIO STATIONS WOULN'T PLAY THEM. HOW SILLY AND PREJUDICIAL.ANYHOW I AM SOOO GLAD THAT THEY HAVE THIS C.D.OUT AND THAT NOW I DON'T GIVE A HOOT CUZ I'M GONNA PLAY IT ANYWAYS.WELL FOLKS JUDGE FOR YOURSELF.TRUST ME, THESE GALS HAD GREAT VOICES AND THIS IS A VERY GOOD C.D.IN FACT THEY'VE NEVER SOUNDED BETTER!"
From a Time When........

"This one is the cd to get! they actually rock out a little on this one, and I have to admit, after all these years, they really can harmonize! I remember growing up with them when my parents used to watch the Lawrence Welk show. They started out very young, but as I remember could hold their own with the Mcguire Sisters or any other female vocal group of the day. This is the most complete cd they have released, with chestnuts from bygone eras up to the soft rock 70's."
The voices of Angels

"When I was a young lad and listened to these beautiful voices on the Lawrence Welk Show, I never really truly appreciated the quality of what I heard. Now as an elder, and as a choral fan, I must tell you that you will rarely hear anything more beautiful than the voices of these sisters in harmony. Some of the solo work is a little less perfect, but when they sing as a group, I challenge anyone to find a better, sweeter, more seamless vocal sound. Their best work is in the older ballads featured prominently in this collection. This is exquisite music."
