"I am a student, singer and conductor of choral music, and when I want to refresh myself with tonal beauty; precision of intonation, ensemble and diction; conducting that is sensitive and fiery by turn; unsurpassed orchestral execution; and recorded sound that is an ideal mix of presence, concert hall ambience and detail, I play this CD. There is absolutely no hint of opera house routine, and there are several "large charge" moments that thrill or even move (me, at least) to tears. I have owned the original Philips edition for almost twenty years, and I was overjoyed to see it available on Australian Eloquence. You will be amazed to find that its 62 minutes are over without any appreciable sense of the passage of time. I have never written an on-line CD review, but felt compelled to do so in this case. If the repertoire interests you even marginally, do not hesitate!"
