CD Reviews

Simply awesome!
Josh from Brazil | 05/25/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had the pleasure and the privilege to watch this fabulous group singing here in my contry, in the winter of '94. It was a mesmerising experience that I'll never forget. I already heard their music when I bought this cd about one or two years before and I simply loved it. It sounds so deep, intense and moving, with sophisticated harmonies and soulfull melodies, carring on all those ancient influences from a unexpected blend of two different cultures - slavic and turkish - that are easely recognized in the two best tunes "Sekoi Fali" and "Shope, Shope". The first one sounds like the chant of angels and the second one is full of energy, brilliant! It doesn't surprized me when I heard the audience, at the concert, begging for this song, in a July's cold night of 1994.

PS: the other songs are marvellous too!"
This music is awesome, but there are no extra tracks

"I had this cd for years, but have been stuck out west without it for almost two years now, so when I saw it on amazon in a new edition with "extra tracks" on it, I jumped on it. bWell, it is exactly as I remembered it, and I mean exactly-- it ends exactly where it did on the copy I have it home, replete with the same soaring melodies, rhythmic excursions, microtonal shifts and impossibly close harmonies that have made me collect every title I have seen all these years of Bulgarian choral music. But someone should really inform Amazon that their indication that this title has extra tracks not on the other release is a falsehood. I guess I'll try to find the button to report that right now, so if you are reading this review and those words are not in the description after the title, I may have been successful. Otherwise, if you can find the older title cheaper, get it-- it's the exact same thing-- I memorized it long ago, and was eagerly awaiting some fresh new startling piece from this amazing canon. If it were advertised correctly, it would be 5 stars all the way. Incredible."
