Synopsis

Album Description
LeMans was one of many 'Bay Area Bangers' that were an active part of the hard rock scene in San Francisco during the early and mid-'80s. Guitarist Derek Frigo started the band and put out their first album 'On The Streets' in 1983 on the Shrapnel label. A second album followed in 1986 on Columbia. This is the reissue of that classic second record. The second record was a radical departure in sound from the first album. The heavy metal undertones of the first record were replaced by a more rounded and mature, sharp AOR/Melodic Rock sound. LeMans was the right band in the right place at the wrong time. However, this re-release of their 1986 classic melodic rock work still stands up to modern scrutiny and will leave many a listener wondering what might have been. This 2001 reissue features 10 tracks, digitally remastered.

CD Reviews

Great 80's melodic/hair metal done right!
Bass player Brad | NJ, Linden | 02/02/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This band is very impressive. Orignally released in 1986 (A great year for metal)this band has a unique sound which is the 80's metal music in it's prime. The album kicks off with Love Lies, a great song the guitar work is well crafted. Track 4 Never Wanna see you cry is one of the best metal ballads out there. It ranks with Dokken's Alone Again, which is another 80's ballad worth owning. This whole album is very good, but Track 6 is worth the entire album ;Chain Around your Heart is such a great song. Overall this album is a must if you like 80's AOR/melodic metal. If you like 80's style Dokken and early 80's Bon Jovi you should get a kick out of this cd. It was well worth the 19 dollars I paid for it! The 80's Long live real music."

"Le Mans is one of those great albums overlooked by mainstream rock fans. This second album by these Bay Area rockers combines great musicianship and guitarwork with catchy melody.I have searched for this CD for many years, as I wore out my old vinyl album a long time ago. If you like "melodic metal" this is one of the best from the mid 1980s."
