"MESMERIZING. .....A GLORIOUS TRIBUTE......."
T. Gervat | Westwood, NJ United States | 11/23/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"What a loving and glorious tribute to arguably the greatest gospel singer of our time or anytime - James Blackwood - highlighted by two of his most riveting performances (heretofore unrelased): "He'll Understand" and "James Blackwood's Vision." Assembled beautifully by Art Greenhaw & with musical
offerings by him & the Light Crust Doughboys, Larry Ford, the
Jordanaires, the James Blackwood Quartet, and Mr.Gospel Music himself, this has got to be the gospel gem of the year - we're talking major Grammy material here! Now James has gone home to
be with the Lord he loved, but through this CD, his truth is marching on!"
"The Best" from "The Best"
Ann Smith | Houston, Texas | 10/19/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A fitting tribute to probably the greatest gospel singer the world has ever known-James Blackwood. For fans who might have missed the limited edition, "They Gave The World A Smile" CD, this one is even better,if that's possible! Soaring, heaven-sent vocals by The James Blackwood Quartet, the soft, close harmonies The Jordanaires are known for, masterful production by Art Greenhaw of The Light Crust Doughboys, happy rhythms by the kings of western swing, The Light Crust Doughboys, combined with James Blackwood's favorite contemporary tenor, Larry Ford. I delighted in the new originals, while the classic songs have never been performed and recorded better. If you've ever wanted to introduce new fans and generations to southern-style gospel music, this is it. This album deserves every honor it receives, including The Grammy for "Best Gospel"..."

"This awesome CD won the grammy award for best in Gospel. I hope to see on TV all these singers singing these awesome songs. I'm the biggest fan of the Light Crust Doughboys, Art Greenhaw, the Jordanaires, James Blackwood, and Larry Ford."
