"The Lady of Rage returns to the studio after nearly 10 years after her debut release with an independently-released mix tape.
This is hardcore rap without the need to appeal to a major label. If a listener truly wants to hear real hardcore, this is the CD to pick up.
Surprisingly, though, the weakest track is the remix of Afro Puffs, the hit that appeared on the Above The Rim movie soundtrack. A synth that sounds as if it was built in the 1970s -and found in the corner of the studio - adds nothing to the original.
LOR says the CD is only a start in getting back in the studio. With the state of the music industry today - and in particular the way hip-hop/rap is marketed - she may need to keep going the independent route.
Rage keeps it real.
