Subject: I have found a CD that I think you would enjoy
A good--but far, FAR, from complete-- sampling of Lacy J.
(4 out of 5 stars)
"It has been said that of all the great "Nashville lady singers', Lacy is, by far, the most underrated and underappreciated. Maybe only Gail Davies--and the late Gus Hardin--can begin to equal her in that respect. This Cd offers a sampling, albeit a small one , of her immense talent.Just listen to her duet with George Jones( Were two vioices ever more perfectly matched?), on the hymn to transcendent love, "Size Seven Round and Made of Gold',or listen to two of the sexiest songs( and performances), ever"Whisper'and "Slow Down", or "Everybody Makes mistakes', where the influence of Bob Dylan, Nina Simone and Karen Dalton on her style and spirit becomes VERY clear. Finally, Listen to "Sixteenth Avenue"... Why ,oh why does Shania Twain sell in the millions while this talent bordering on( and occasionally surpassing) genius cant get a record deal to save her life, and is forced to perform on pool tables? The only reasonn I give this CD four stars IS BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OF IT. Please, somebody out there, give Lacy J . a decent record deal, or release a REAL boxed set, doing justice to ALL her talent."
Great stuff, but there should be more of this woman's work
(4 out of 5 stars)
"Great stuff, but there should be more of this woman's work available. A couple of cuts from the brilliant album "You Can't Run Away From Your Heart" lift this above other Lacy "Bests". If the abovementioned album were released on CD, this one would be less attractive, but Lacy J Dalton deserves wider recognition. This will do."
