"Back when Lacy was a small child, Peggy Lee recorded a song titled Black coffee - it was brilliant and went on to become one of Peggy's most popular songs. Lacy's song is original and very different but equally brilliant in it's own way - and has become one of Lacy's most popular songs. When the line-dancing craze hit the UK, Black coffee was popular with the dancers. Brilliant as it may be, Black coffee doesn't really stand out from the rest of the album, which has many excellent songs written by some of Nashville's top songwriters of the day. Lacy is co-credited on three of them.Glen Campbell joins Lacy for a duet on Shaky ground. Legend has it that this was recorded on the day that an earthquake hit California. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but it was certainly recorded at around that time. Lacy and Glen recorded another duet, Woodcarver, at around the same time. Woodcarver can be found on Glen's album, Walkin' in the sun, which I've already reviewed.Dedicated Martina McBride fans will recognize Walk that line, another song to get those toes tapping. Martina covered it for her 1992 debut album, The time has come.I could spend a lot of time describing this album. My only advice is - if you can find it, buy it, together with Lacy's previous album, Survivor, and any of her other music that you can find. Lacy is, perhaps, the most under-rated lady in the history of country music."
