Product Description
On period instruments. Whilst in Hamburg, Telemann developed a fecundity of inspiration that was truly impressive: amongst other works, he left behind an immense legacy of instrumental music. His highly personal style is most noteworthy for its inspiration, skilful writing and experimental style. The seeming ease of the musical discourse flows from a highly refined musical technique that is as skilled in the deployment of rhetorical tools as it is in learned counterpoint. It was thanks to this that Telemann was always able to seduce music lovers as well as musicians, from the humblest to the most skilled. Four of the six sonatas recorded here are from the Essercizii Musici overo Dodeci Soli e Dodeci Trii a diversi stromenti (published in 1739-1740). Some of these are particularly unusual, such as the use of the recorder with an obbligato harpsichord, with the two instruments taking part in a dialogue with the continuo group in the Sonata in B flat major (TWV 42: B4). A common passion for music of the late Renaissance and the Baroque led these musicians to form the ensemble La Primavera in 1996; thanks to its wide instrumental base and a broad choice of soloists, La Primavera's concerts are truly special events, full of variety and renewal. La Primavera has performed in many prestigious festivals and concert series both at home and abroad. In 1996 and 1998 the ensemble won several prizes in the Van Wassenaer Concours, an international competition for early music ensembles.
