Kylie's First Albums

(4 out of 5 stars)

"After I bought "Fever", I KNEW I had to know more about her and get as many albums of her as I could. I have recieved "Hits +" and "Light Years" (each of which are excellent), but I wanted her first albums. My wish came true with the purchase of this triple set, Kylie's first three. I will review each separately to give readers a better understanding of each album. Some people may want all 3, some may only want 2, etc., but this set is the best way to save money and get 3 terrific albums in the bargain. So, here we go!!KYLIE---This one introduces Kylie to the world with her cover of the 60's hit "The Loco-Motion" and other good songs including "I Should Be So Lucky" and "It's No Secret". Produced by The Stock Aitken Waterman Team (who also produced hits by Samantha Fox and Bananarama), this album is 35 minutes long and has the fluffiest euro-pop I have ever heard. My kids and I can listen to this together, and we do. A very good album and completey harmless.ENJOY YOURSLF---My favorite album of the set has got to be this 32 minute trip into more euro-pop. Again prduced by SAW, this one features great songs including "Hand On Your Heart", "Wouldn't Change A Thing", and "Never Too Late". Only a few dull moments on this one, including "Tell Tale Signs" (this sounds like it should be sung in a Las Vegas lounge, not a pop record), and another 60's cover, this one being "Tears On My Pillow". All in all, though, a satisfying cd.RHYTHM OF LOVE---Again short (44 minutes), this one shows Kylie trying to break ties with SAW (they produce 7 of the 11 tracks instead of all of them like the first 2)and (sometimes) lyric-writing. Good songs on this one include "Better The Devil You Know" (which was covered by The Steps in 1999)and the disco-sounding "Step Back In Time".So there you have it...not a bad set to start your Kylie collection, but, in my opinion, her best are "Fever" and the impressive "Light Years". Check those out, too. I can't wait to see what she puts out next!"
