"Krommer? If you don't know his music, give a listen. These clarinet concertos are cool. They are played wonderfully by Paul Meyer. He gets a gorgeous tone, and plays great technically. These concertos are really worth getting to know. The op. 70 Sinfonia Concertant, is also worth listening to. Mr. Rampel gets a gorgeous flute sound. All clarinetists should aquaint themselves with these pieces, they are all really neat. This c.d. is highly recommended. Give a listen."

"I first heard the Krommer concerto #1 performed live by the late Jack Brymer with the London Philharmonic orchestra in 1976, and performed it myself accompanied by the National Youth Orchestra; I have been amazed since that this work still remains somewhat obscure amongst the clarinettist's repertoire.

Beautifully written, in a vein that is somewhat of a cross between Mozart and Weber, the lyrical and technically challenging aspects of these works are wonderfully displayed by Paul Meyer, probably one of the most gifted clarinetists today.

Not once do the more challenging elements sound rushed; the orchestra never dominates the soloist, and Meyer's interpretation certainly, in my opinion, is on a par with that of the late Brymer at his best.

For ANY clarinetist looking to expand a collection of beautifully musical works for the instrument, this recording is a DEFINATE must have. And at the price........."
