Synopsis

Album Description
An innovative, all-electronic, communication concept album that surfs sine waves and scans the stratosphere for stray radio signals while broadcasting majestic music for a modern world where factories and power stations are the new cathedrals. At the time Trouser Press magazine notes that the album marks an important step in Kraftwerk's artistic progress converting the band into "Ultramodern Sonic Engineers."

Fantastic remastering

"Having owned quite a few CD copies of their whole work I had allways beensomewhat disppointed by the sound of almost all the albums. There was hiss and the sound was compressed. This new remaster series will completely blow you away. The sound has been cleaned up completely and thre is a separation to the sounds and afeeling of space that almost makes you wonder if they did re-record the songs. well they did not but they have certainly upgraded the sound to a degree that I have never heard in any other remaster series (OK I have not heard the Beatles ones) and the sound is completely modern and corresponds very much to that from their recent tour and live CD?DVD if you have seen or heard those. Indispensable. Oh and by the way the ongs come across as completely modern especially the title song."
Wunderbar!!

"This CD is great. The album is very atmospheric, you can just get lost in it. I've not heard but high quality Mp3s of the old master of this so I can't comment on the old vs. new mix of this, but I CAN say that this CD sounds wonderful on my 5.1 surround sound. The sounds are sharp, the noises just fill the room and create a very good atmosphere. The CD has somewhat of a mysterious sound to it. The album touches on the effects of radiation and the theme of the radio. Hence Radio-Activity, being about radioactivity and the activity on the radio. This and Trans Europa Express are my favorite albums by Kraftwerk, and I highly recommend this CD! The final song, Ohm Sweet Ohm, is a very relaxing tune as well!"
Wow.. Impressive.

"I've been a huge Kraftwerk fan for a long time. I have the Capitol CDs... and had original LPs before that... but couldn't resist the lure of remasters on nice, new vinyl. These are a real treat. While I am writing this after just listening to Radioactivity, the review applies more or less equally to all the 2009 remasters.. Let's start with the bad... I wasn't happy that they replaced the cover art (for us in the USA anyway..) but was pleased to see that the original cover art is on the LP sleeve. Print quality of the booklet and cover is excellent and with a nice weight. The LP itself is a very nicely pressed heavy piece of vinyl. It's ruler flat, heavy and quiet. This is a great pressing. As for the music, remaster really means "up in the air," because frankly, sometimes the remaster just isn't any good. But that is not the case here. Much like they did with the Beatles remasters, the audio is very clean and clear compared to the old versions, with maybe just a hint of eq for some presence and low-end, but all in all, there isn't any compression or real negatives as to what was done. It doesn't have that new, loudness war, soul destroying modern CD mastering sound... thankfully!! So, you get better than normal quality LP for your $20 and the audio is preserved, yet enhanced. Truly nice products."
