The first movement is intriguing, the middle is nice though a little eccentric, and third very solid writing and keeps your attention the entire time. The other pieces come as a pleasant surprise and are also quite good. Kraft does a wonderful job with the difficult task of writing a timpani concerto. This CD is a little out there, but if like modernism you'll definitely love this CD (I believe this may be the only recording of the Timpani Concerto)."
