Synopsis

Product Description
Knife The Symphony is a trio out of Cincinnati, Ohio featuring former members of Ampline (Tiberius Records) and Theraphosa (Phratry Records). Formed in January 2006, Jeff Albers (guitar, vocals) Robyn Roth (bass, vocals) and Phratry label-owner Jerry Dirr (drums, percussion) quickly began writing and recording. By late Summer/early Fall of '06, the band had already managed to complete their self-titled EP, begin promotion of the record and play a string of shows throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. In true DIY spirit, there's been no time wasted. No waiting around. Just a sincere energy and desire to write, record and play. Simply put, Knife The Symphony is an underground band. They're influenced by art, early skate culture, film and music. Musically, the band's influences range in everything from early American punk rock to the hardcore and posthardcore of the 1980's and '90's to straight-ahead rock and world music. Now in their 30's, the band members grew up listening to anything they could. From the first sounds ever heard on MTV in the early 80's to everything ever released by Dischord, SST, Touch & Go, AM Rep and everything in between. And it all comes out in their own music. Tons of guitars, grinding-bass, huge drums and sharp, percussive sounds lay the groundwork for male and female scream/sing vocals. From start to finish, the five songs on Knife The Symphony's Self-Titled debut never let up. A continuous flow of energy, driving beats and feedback, this record leaves you winded but asking for more. The lyrics on this record deal with the concept of "conflict" and "choices". Everything from the personal choices and conflict one might deal with everyday, to the present, escalating, globalconflicts that affect us all.
