Synopsis

Album Description
Originally recorded in 2000 and only available in the rare and long deleted 10 CD boxset Contemporary Works, The Crime Of Suspense is a welcome addition to the Klaus Schulze re-release catalogue. On Good Old 4 On The Floor Schulze delivers a trance track classic with soul, while Overchill is refined by the beautiful voice of Julia Messenger. Two previously unreleased bonus tracks have been added to this definitive version of The Crime Of Suspense. As with all of the Revisited Records Klaus Schulze re-issues, The Crime Of Suspense is housed in a deluxe fold out digipak, with a lavish booklet with rare photos and liner notation by Klaus Schulze. Klaus Schulze first attracted attention as a member of the German progressive rock band, Tangerine Dream. Following the release of their debut LP, Electronic Meditation, he departed for a solo career. Klaus' recorded work typically features extended pieces sometimes filling an entire album built around computer-generated synthesizers and other specially programmed electronic effects. Klaus Schulze remains a cult figure in the United States, where the bulk of his prolific output has until now been available only through the import bins. He is widely considered an avant-garde mainstay as well as a founding father of both the new-age space music and electronica genres.

CD Reviews

The Crime of Suspense
Henry E. Schneider | Houston, TX | 08/11/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This CD reissue is the second disc from the 10-CD boxed set Contemporary Works I. Since the mid-90s Klaus had been packing as much music as possible on to each release. Fortunately, The Crime of Suspense did have room for about 9 minutes of music that Klaus filled with two short pieces, "Ruins" and "Castles". These two tracks were originally released on a promo CD made for Contemporary Works I that was only given to those people who had pre-ordered the set. If you are looking to buy any Klaus Schulze CDs, definitely invest in these reissues. They are far superior to the originals and earlier reissues."
