CD Reviews

Best CD purchase in years
James Kosmicki | Grand Island, NE USA | 04/11/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Every song on this CD is among the best songs I've heard in years. As far as "sound" goes, this is a 5 star, hell 6-star, album. However, I did have to dock it a star because of the lyrical content. The songs are about sex and drugs, which is par for the course in rock and roll, but there's no subtlety here, as seen in the title of the first song. I would LOVE to play this album for my kids (5 and 8), but I really don't want them going around singing "Everybody Smokes Pot!"And that's the problem-- they would go around singing that. Anybody who listens to this album will. Every song has hooks galore. The first song is a wonderful rocker, but there's an acoustic guitar bridge that ANY other pop band would kill for, and it's an extra in this band's work. I don't see how anybody could listen to "Galaxy Holiday" and not find themselves singing snatches of it for the next week. "Together" is a wonderful pop song. There's just not a bad track on this album except the final fadeout track that isn't even a formal song. (and that's why it's a failure, it reminds you of the complete original and you are disappointed that you didn't hear the whole thing!)I honestly don't know how anyone who likes poppy music, especially glam-style 70's pop, wouldn't just love this album..."
Kinks meets beatles

"this is the freshest pop record i've heard in years, great harmonies with an almost retro 60's brit pop guitar presence and weezer/beatles-esque melodies, at once optimistic and playful without being tritefor fans of kinks, beatles, xtc, weezer"

"It's ultra-fun pop at its very best. Their sound is vibrant and clean blending extremely well with their brilliant outside of the box songwriting. I highly recommend this album to anyone that likes music. I also recommend their live performances (I believe they now call themselves Space Race) to anyone travelling to or near Manhattan."
