CD Reviews

DO NOT BUY!

"RIP OFF, DO NOT BUY! Save your money. This is a repackage of Kiss The Classic Interviews and Maximum Kiss The unauthorised biography of kiss cds in a box holding both cds. If Amazon had a zero star rating, I'd give it one, but the lowest is 1 star. Picture on back of the box isn't even Kiss, it's a tribute band."
KISS MY ASS

"The first time I saw this 2 Disk Set advertised on Amazon.com was about a week prior to its scheduled release date and available for pre-order. I remember thinking to myself "Wow, this sounds amazing." A collection of never-before-heard archive interviews with Gene, Paul and Ace taken from 1979 (Peter obviously no longer a member at that point) along with an updated band bio covering their current line-up, tour dates and upcoming studio album release!! I bought this CD compilation just two days ago at Wal-Mart in anticipation of what I was expecting to discover within. What a joke!!! Turned out to be nothing more than a crappy re-release of KISS: The Classic Interviews which can be found in the KISS 25th Anniversary Star Profile documentary, another unauthorized British import. The only difference here is that Disk 2 of KISS: The Lowdown includes a very choppy sound quality interview with a drug and alcohol-induced Ace Frehley (circa 1979 or so we're lead to believe by reading what the CD insert tells us), previously unreleased. Having listened to no less than 2 minutes of said interview confirmed the logic on that one.

If that wasn't enough, Disk 1 of this set contains a bio-documentary that had apparently been also previously issued in the UK. It is undoubtedly the most poorly written music documentary to date surrounding KISS' origins as struggling New York musicians under the Wicked Lester moniker all the way up to the Millennium Concert in Vancouver, BC. And I'm not kidding, this is where it ends. From the beginning narrative to the end we hear the same tall tales KISS themselves have since revealed to be false, with many historical inaccuracies made along the way. Nine years later, and the only current addition to this piece of crap is listed in the product description on the back. Nowhere in the actual contents of this biography is there any mention of KISS' new album and upcoming tour. This is one product Mr. Gene Simmons should be thankful for having no involvement with whatsoever. If you're expecting to find exclusive KISS memorabilia, look elsewhere."
