CD Reviews

A Great Accoustic CD
01/02/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Although this CD has previously released material, it still sounds fresh. Kip has a great voice and is a very talented guitarist. The 2 "new" tracks "Blind Revolution Mad" and "Rainbow in The Rose" are Winger songs that are done here for the first time accoustically and they sound great. The CD is easy listening and you can hear Kip's great attention to detail in every song."
One of the best acoustic records of all time

"Music,as life, has a lot of surprises.Who might have thought that Kip Winger would make an album like this?
This is pure feeling,an atmospherical trip to beautiful soundscapes.A experience in itself.
Kip lost his wife in a car accident and suddenly all his world collapsed.Instead of giving up,he started to develope a fantastic solo career. He tries to heal himself with this music, and heal ourselves, too.
Mature?Yes,sure.Sounds strange seeing Winger's videos of the 80's hair metal plague, all those pompous posing, colours and nonsense-lyrics...but in their last album "Pull", they showed a great capacity to write timeless songs, with powerful lyrics.
He wants to be taken seriously. It must be a heavy burden to carry when all people is telling you"You were a 80's metalhead and you got nothing to say now".
If you are one of those who think the latter, you will overlook this awesome effort. You will never know what really hides in an amazing record like this.
Winger covers in acoustic leave you specheless, most of all because of their fantastic melodies. They sound terrific! They look like pop compositions,as the well-known "Under one condition"(I love this song acoustic!),"Miles away" and a heavenly rendition of their hit "Headed for a heartbreak".
"Daniel" and "Another way" (Kip's solo compositions-to number a few) if were part of a Phil Collins,Eagles or Kenny G album would be hits for sure. But he is Kip Winger.
The album as a whole is brutally melancolic, not to approach when you are down or depressed. It can ruin your day.Try,as "Grace"(Jeff Buckley) to listen to it in an appropiate mood.It can send you shivers down your spine and let your mind free.
Please, make yourself a favor and buy this record now.If you like it,try all Kip's albums. They won't dissapoint you."

"I heard kip performing Miles Away with just his acoustic guitar on a local radio station and he sounded great so when I heard about this cd I knew I had to have it. Kip really brings new life to all these songs that were already great to start off with. When you hear them all stripped down without all the loud guitars and pounding drums you really get a fill for what Kip Winger the Singer/Song writer is all about, it truly is an Amazing CD to listen to"
