2009 collection of modern recordings of songs from this beloved musical. Starring Julia McKenzie and Keith Mitchell. Based on the book Anna And The King Of Siam by Margaret Landon, the idea for turning the story into a musical came from the manager of Gertrude Lawrence who was looking for a vehicle to star his client. The original intention had been for Cole Porter to write the musical, but when he turned the idea down, it was offered to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
