Synopsis

Album Description
As an independent label, we've worked hard to develop a distinctive sound ? part-folk, part-classical, all-acoustic instrumental music. We feel our music is indeed unique, and we've never compromised in our determination to produce only the highest quality, most beautifully packaged recordings. We include detailed liner notes for those who are curious about the history and background of the music. Gourd has licensed music to Warner Bros. Music, Narada, Hearts of Space, Windham Hill, The Disney Channel, A&E and The History Channel. Selections from the Gourd recording The World Turned Upside Down were featured on the Ken Burns documentary Thomas Jefferson. Three Gourd recordings were featured on Ken Burns? latest project ( a documentary on Susan B. Anthony & Elizabeth Cady Stanton) on PBS.

This is a very pretty album filled with calming music. Nothing I would call a favorite, except her rendering of All the Pretty Little Horses (I believe it was), which is really beautiful. For background or lullaby music, I recommend this album. I wish she had sung some of the songs, as her voice is lovely, but I think all the songs on this album are instrumental.

Puts my kids in a sleepy and beautifully quiet stupor

"We got this CD as a gift before our daughter was born in '05.....we listened to it as I was giving birth to her...and now she is 4 and all through her life we've put this on when things are particularly difficult or chaotic and it ALWAYS calms her. We now have an 8 month foster son and today while my daughter was dealing with the flu and the baby was fussing and I was feeling overwhelmed I put this on and prayed a little and, instantaneously, things were peaceful! I LOVE this CD!"

"This music is so peaceful and lovely. Kim Robertson is my favorite harpist thus far. There is something so uncomplicated and comforting about the way she plays. I highly recommend her music, and especially this CD."
