Synopsis

Album Description
Kill the Vultures don?t make hip-hop. They make junk hop: insulated, spare and stripped-down. Willfully restrained, raw and uncooked, 'Kill the Vultures' is a masterful exercise in excision and reduction. Shedding the skin of their previous outing as Oddjobs, MCs Advizer (Adam Waytz), Crescent Moon (Alexei Casselle) and Nomi (Mario De Mira) push hip-hop in a new direction through the tunnel vision and bare-bones production of Anatomy (Stephen Lewis). The Kill the Vultures crew first met as members of Minnesota collective Cases of Mistaken Identity. It was here that Oddjobs was born. Taking their cues from successful crews like the Hieroglyphics and Rhymesayers, the group quickly took to writing and producing, releasing two singles that climbed to the top of the CMJ charts. When not writing or producing, the crew toured, landing high-profile gigs with the likes of DJ Shadow, Atmosphere, De La Soul, Buck 65 and Zion I. In anticipation of the three-month Seven Travels Tour with Atmosphere, Oddjobs gave up their collective apartment in Brooklyn and moved back to Minnesota, where they spent the winter months following the tour creating 'Kill the Vultures,' an album largely inspired by the gloom that accompanies the Minnesota winter.
