CD Reviews

The popular world needs to hear this lady
smoothz | Trumbull, CT, USA | 08/25/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard this lady on the local smooth jazz station, and, I must say, I have not stopped talking to my friends about her since. I bought both this and "Piece of my Soul" and find both incredibly stunning. I have been a jazz listner on and off over the years, but this lady woke up a whole musical genre in me.It is hard to beleive anyone could do better than David Clayton Thomas on "You've made me so very happy" but she at least equals him. I like the salsa she put into a Chicago favorite of mine "Call on Me." Her own compositions "Time Flies" and "Our Love" make it clear she is beyond just a cover artist.Buy this."
Superb and Smooth

"I happened on Khani Cole by a friend who is a true jazz fan. I borrowed it and was mezmerized. Now I have to have my own copy, but it was hard to find. FYI: She appears in Phoenix, AZ on most Friday nights at the Pointe at Tapatio Cliffs. Haven't made it there yet, but intend to real soon. If you're in town, call first to see if she is there."
Of Quality

"I stumbled on to this CD at Amazon. I had heard a cut on my local "smooth jazz" - muzak station. My first reaction was that the singer was very commercial and the label was trying to make a smooth jazz gem. Upon further examination I realized that Khani Cole had much depth. I bought her first release, Piece Of My Soul, which lacks the production shine of Places but, this woman can sing and unfortunately she'll probably become another unkown tragedy in a country where without the proper funds real talent falls through the cracks and massive capital makes singing stars out of people like...Jennifer Lopez ?"
