He's fitted strings to an axe, a shovel, a tennis racket, etc. along with other improvements and then plays them much as one would play a violin. He even played a knife, a toothbrush, and his zipper! The musical quality he achieved with some of these items (maybe not the zipper) was astounding, and the samples above (I've not heard the actual album) showed it off even better.
