Synopsis

Album Description
Kerstin Blodig and Ian Melrose strike a resonant chord together, teasing out the Celtic threads of Scotland and Scandinavia traditional music to weave a new fabric of sensual vocals, bluesy flute, and rhythm guitar. A Kelpie is a spirit in Scottish mythology that appears at the waterside disguised as a beautiful white horse. As the creature is found in both Celtic and Scandinavian mythology, it is a fitting symbol for the music created by Blodig and Melrose, who combine material from these two cultures with their own musical backgrounds and arrangements. This disc features children's songs, poems, dances, fairy tales and ballads, as well as songs inspired by Jethro Tull and Dizzy Gillespie. After this acoustic experience, you'll never be the same again!

A charmed discovery
Alexander T. Gafford | Midland, Ga United States | 07/30/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"What a delightful find this is ! From the first song, a delightful romp explaining in Norwegian what to do with a large dead crow, to a cover to Jethro Tull's Kelpie, this album brings together really strong acoustic guitar work by Ian Melrose and the solid tuneful voice of Kerstin Blodig to cover Celtic-Scandinavian fusion, if you can belive that. Please do believe it because this is a discovery of two people clearly (and skillfully) making music because they love it. The range of the songs is great, the recorded sound is precise and clean, and the playing inventive without being overly clever."
