Square root of lost horizon plus aor equals great debut alb

"Remember the album covers those old AOR bands in the late seventies and early eighties put out? Bands such as Asia, Boston, and Journey -- you know, all those neat science-fantasy deals with spaceships and fantastic creatures and stuff? Didn't you wish that once you put the album on, the music inside would live up to the album cover? I mean, it wasn't bad music, and sonically it sounded pretty spacey with the keyboards and dreamy vocals and all, but the lyrics those bands wrote were ninety-five percent commerical crud.

Well, Keldian sounds like those album covers looked. They are the best "space metal" band I have ever heard, unless you count Lost Horizon. Lost Horizon being, of course, the intergalactic champions of the music world, it isn't fair to compare them to anyone else. They are exponentially better than any other band of their type. So I won't compare Keldian to Lost Horizon, other than in broadly generic terms. It's hard to describe Keldian. Keldian sounds like the vocalist of A-Ha fronting a pop version of Pagan's Mind, only better. They sound like Asia with a power metal rhythym section. They sound like Luca Turilli if he had been born twenty years earlier and played eighties rock. They sound good, any way you slice it.

Hard to believe this is a debut album; these are obviously veterans, regardless. Get in on the ground floor of a great new band and pick this one up."

"Keldian's "Heaven's Gate" is such an incredible breath of fresh air in the Power Metal genre that I had to praise this debut album unconditionally! This two-man group, with guest musicians and vocalists adding their excellent talent, mix early eighties pop rock such as Asia, Journey, and the like with a very modern Power Metal excitement that has me instantly addicted. The ambience throughout is more Sci-fi than the typical Dungeons and Dragons/Knights Templar themes that saturate the Power Metal field and it is completely welcome. Guardians of Time are another Power Metal incarnation that delved (past tense, R.I.P.) into the Science Fiction arena and brought about fantastic results. While Keldian doesn't have the guitar heroics of Guardians of Time, the themes are similar enough to bring them to mind. Keldian does pick up the speed, and frequently, using tempo shifts ingeniously to keep each song interesting to the end. This is a spectacular and fresh addition to the Power Metal genre. Anyone and everyone even slightly interested in the future of Power Metal should definitely pick this one up. Outstanding!"

"I love Keldian, the music is well put together. The harmonies are great and I find their music uplifting and happy. I have not yet found a track which I dislike, and that is from both albums. "Heaven's Gate and Journey of Souls. They are both brilliant cd and I can't wait for their nextCD TO COME OUT.. kELDIAN..magic."
