CD Reviews

Keith Caputo, Brooklyn's Best Singer PROVES IT!
Adam Bernstein | Brooklyn, NY United States | 04/15/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'm one of those next generation Life Of Agony Fans. I got in to them right when Soul Searching Sun came out. Then they broke up. I listened to SSS, Ugly, and River Runs Red (ANY LOA Fan's favorite!) over and over again, wanting more. Then I got a hold of Keith's solo album.

From the get go, I knew not to expect another LOA album. Keith had quit the band to presue something differet. And boy, has he acheived it. Died Laughing is a collection of beautiful, melodic, emotional songs. Keith sounds so happy cherning out vocal bliss on songs like Dew Drop Magic, New York City, and Honeycomb.

Keith has always taken a safe haven in his music so this album is an amazing invite in to his soleis.

In 2002 I had the chance to see Keith perform live three of his four dates at the CBGB's gallery in month of March. It was just him an a fantastic guitarist! It was like seeing Jim Morrison perform in a coffee house.

Keith threw in LOA songs such as Weeds, and Let's Pretend (one of my all time favorite songs) and even jokingly promised to do River Runs Red next time he came around. I thought to myself that this was going to be the closest i'd even get to seeing LOA. boy.. was I wrong! In January of 2003 Life Of Agony reformed in New York and I have seen them FOUR times since. Including in their hometown and mine, Brooklyn NY! It is now 2005 and Keith and the boys are releasing a new album in June. As excited as i am for it, I'd love to see keith do some of his solo stuff with the band, or maybe as an opening act. I just hope he doesn't give up on it and can trancend between the two."
Don't look for LOA here...

"Let's get this out of the way. If you are a LOA fan and you think this album will satisfy your need for another LOA release, don't buy. HOWEVER, if you like Keith Caputo's voice and have and open mind with music and like other genres than metal, BUY THIS ALBUM!!! I had no idea what to expect with this release. I was so pleasantly surprised when I finished listening to it. Keith has a soft voice here and it helped him reinvent himself with Died Laughing. There aren't any hardcore riffs here. The songs are a bit poppy in nature. His lyrics seem to mean something when you listen as well."
Excellent.

"I go this on loan from a friend, and though initially skeptical, I have yet to take it out of my CD player. Amazing songmanship. Excellent lyrics. Catchy and poppy without being bland and repetitive. The hooks dance around your head long after you've turned off the music, and the songs become instant classics in your mind. This guy needs a record deal in the States."
