CD Reviews

You have to be in a MAJOR party mood to dance to this stuff
Daniel W. Kelly | Long Island, NY United States | 04/11/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"A mix of female and male vocal. Lots of high NRG house cheese here, mostly covers of old tunes. A cover of the Bee Gees "tragedy" by teenie bopper group Steps is interesting. Reach out is a speedy female vocal cover of the Four Tops hit "Reach Out, I'll be There." "Put A Little Love in your Heart" is appropriately covered by HAPPY Charlie, because it sure is happy. The mix gets a little more anthematic as it progresses. The cover of Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" is a good mix and the vocalist handles it well, but it would have been just as effective to use Whitney's vocals as the Junior Vasquez mix did nearly a decade ago. A fun cover of "I Think We're Alone Now" isn't a far stretch from the Tiffany cover from the 80s. And yet another cover of "Time After Time," and not one of the better ones. This is not your standard night out at a club, but definitely a CD for pride, with music so happy it could make you vomit happiness all over the sweaty shirtless men with their arms thrown in the air all around you.
