CD Reviews

Jyro and the JUGGERNAUTZ!!
E Ferri | Florida, USA | 04/04/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"WOW! OK.. what can I say!! The J-Nautz cd is
awesome. The sound is a mix of early MORTAL (evident in the
guitar tones) Argyle Park-ish electronic treatments (but still
VERY Jyro-ish),and of course, shades of FZ appear throughout the
album. 10 tracks of awesome music. Lyrically, Jyro has assembled some
beauties! 1) "The Reach" - The opening guitar chords are Mortal to the
core. I mean.. this could have been on Lusis, guitar wise. The
electronic treatment is what really separates this from that
era, though. 2) "UR" - Mucho electronic treatments! Beautiful lyrics. 3) "Everyday" - This one could have fit on a Argyle Park cd, as
far as the sound. Faster BPM drum loops, with lots of low end
bass action. 4) "Fury" - Wow.. this is one of my favs! Play this loud!
Pretty heavy guitars.. heavier than the FZ sound. Lyrically..
this is a song that totally fits in with what's happening in the
world today. Awesome, and insightful... Musically.. this could
have been a new Mortal tune. Heavy.. low.. Genuis! Jyro.. you
never seem to cease with musical growth!5) "Mandarin Sky" - A sweet song in memory of Gene Eugene..
vocals by the beautiful wife of Jyro, Carla.6) "Pacificoaster" - This one totally fits with the self-titled
Mortal cd. Very instrumental, for the most part. Very well
arraigned!7) "Everlasting"- Jyro... to the core! Beautiful chorus, and
musically enchanting! It's heavy, but not... all at the same
time. VERY catchy! Drum machine?? Certainly doesn't sound like
one. Crank this one!8) "Don't Be Afraid" - hmm.. a mix of AP, with older Mortal.
Low keyed rap vocals from Jyro. Wow.. it works! A tough
sounding song, with the BPM's that gets your head, and body
moving! Well thought out!9) "Believing" - An instant radio hit (in my opinion!). Not too
often a song like this crosses my desk. wow... WOW! Guitars..
programming.. and lots of it! Give this song LOTS of listens,
and hear how many things are going on at one time. Electronics,
hums, splashes, keys, guitars.. and vocally.. this is one of
Jyro's finest ever!! I've listened to this over 30 times
already. and I get goose bumps every time. 10) "You Are The Light" - Beautiful, melodic, with
some great occasional heavy guitar riffs that really sets this
emo-ish song with some flavor! This disc is a MUST-HAVE for any fan of FZ, Mortal, or
great music! Use headphones, with the bass up!
This was worth the wait!

"This is an awesome album. It reminds very much of the very last Mortal CD, only much better produced. The lyrics on this CD are brillant. UR, and the reach are plainly worshipful and pacificoaster has some clever metaphors. It has enough electronic stuff in it be something for Dj's but it also has enough rock/pop sensibility for the average listener. This is a good CD for the Mortal fans who liked Mortal better then fold zan. It's also good for anybody who listens to skillet."
Skillet/Mukala fans, meet your next favorite band!

"This is definately an LP all fans of techno/rock/pop can be proud of to have in their collection. I never heard of these guys until I saw the album displayed on the sampler rack. But after listening to the first two songs, I quickly bought the CD for myself, and can honestly say, was NOT disappointed. If you're starving for a new band with a sound like Mukala or Skillet, look no further than Juggernautz."
