This economical set collects 83 minutes of the incomparable Judy Garland in many of her signature songs recorded for Decca, including "Dear Mr. Gable: You Made Me Love You" and the inevitable "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz, as well as that film's deleted number, "The Jitterbug." Also here are samplings of Garland's early collaborations with Gene Kelly (For Me and My Gal) and Mickey Rooney (the Gershwins' Girl Crazy), along with the title tune and the exquisite "Boy Next Door" from Meet Me in St. Louis. This isn't as complete as her Decca box or as historic as her Carnegie Hall concert, but it's a nice collection, even with no liner notes or recording information. --David Horiuchi

Fabulous, But Unnecessary If...

"These are a few of the fabulous recordings Judy did for Decca. But, this disc is utterly unnecessary if you have The Complete Decca Masters Plus, a box set of four discs with everything she ever recorded there. If you don't have that set, go ahead and get this one, because some of these are absolute jewels."

"I can hardly believe yow good this double CD set is. Every single song is a winner. There is no way to over praise this CD set. For the money it's a steal. Okay, okay, there are no liner notes. Buy it anyway. You'll be glad you did. It doesn't get any better than this."
