AMG rates this album **** (four stars) Here's an excerpt from the review: "...Joshes [sic] Dodes Band turns in a surprisingly accomplished debut album with Get Up. Made up of equal parts funk blues tracks and brittle solo ballads, the album is winning almost from start to finish...a strong, exciting album that holds up no matter how big a flickerstick [whatever that is] one waves at it. - Tim DiGravina

Impressive!

"Great indie release from a indie band. I saw very little of them from VH1's Bands on the Run, but I didn't care too much for the remaining (and untimately winning) bands.I get the impression that Josh Dodes could have gotten some lessons from Billy Joel or Elton John. There's good qualities of good music in here. Funk, blues, and insightful lyrics.Don't let the lack of lead guitars fool you -- some of the greatest rock artists were led by pianists -- Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Joel, Elton John and many others...Hope to see more from Josh Dodes in the future..."

"Very cool CD. If you're looking for something different and especially if you're a fan of funk and keyboards. Great harmonies on the singing as well. Forget the silly TV show and check out a very original band and sound."
