"Jorge Drexler, already widely recognized in South America, jumped to some international prominence by singing the Oscar-winning song last year, from Motorcyle Diaries, yet his work has had limited appeal-condemned to the fate of those who choose not to sing in English for the Norrth-American market.



This album reunites two early albums, and conjure up a singer-songwriter still in gestation, already penning some great tunes yet aspiring to the elusive task of developing a distinct identity.



One thing that's clear from listening to these two beautiful albums is that Drexler is no musical test-tube baby. There are echoes of Eduardo Mateos-the great Uruguayan composer- and hints and moments from the best Pop tradition from the Rio De La Plata sounds from the 60's and 70's.



To mention songs that has brougt me singular pleasure would be to possibly deprive you from your own search and discoveries. So, I choose to say that this is something you must hear, knowing that however you choose to go about it, you will find full saisfaction.



Early works that carry the freshness of a young talented musician on his way to further recognition. In manu ways, some of which may be considered sentimental, this may the place to start with Drexler."

"I gave Eco 5 stars and still believe it to be one of the finest crafted musical albums in years. This however, leaves me cold - stone cold. There is little evidence of the musicality nor the flowing, rythmic symmetry of Eco. As an exercise in understanding the evolution of the artist it may be a valuable addition but not necessarily a requirement."
