Album Description

Kane is a downtown NYC legend, as co-founder of the Swans and the rhythmic thunder behind the massed-guitar armies of Rhys Chatham and the rock excursions of La Monte Young. On this, his first solo record, Kane summons the Swans' concussive wallop, Chatham's dense guitar strata, and the perpetual propulsion of 70's kraut rockers Neu, then steers it all head-on into the blues. Make no mistake, Kane is a bluesman, and beneath the high-decibel bombast, he's powering guitar-driven minimalism into the blues, and the blues into guitar-driven harmonic maximalism. "I'd never really thought about who was handling the drums behind the early Swans and against a freaking battalion of guitars in Rhys Chatham, but now that I think about it, I didn't see the tree for the forest.

Well, Mr. Lane has dropped the accompaniment and set the forest on fire.

"Sis" is like a freight train you can't see, but it keeps getting closer. After a couple of minutes, you realize somebody has tied you to the tracks. My neighbor thought I was holding a Taiko drum festival - but no, it's just Mr. Lane on the guitar, bass and drums...

Can't wait for March."
