Synopsis

Album Description
* Jonathan Goldman's latest book The 7 Secrets of Sound Healing (Hay House) reached bookstores in March 2008. The book features an excerpt from De-Stress. * De-Stress was created by world renowned healing sounds expert and Grammy-nominated musician Jonathan Goldman as a listening tool to enhance tranquility and relaxation. Utilizing the science of sound and the art of music, Goldman has created a powerful and beautiful sound experience that demonstrates the healing power of sound. The package includes a 16-page instruction booklet on how to maximally benefit from the recording. * The 7 Secrets of Sound Healing will be marketed and promoted to reach mainstream audiences and will naturally tie in with De-Stress and Goldman's other sound healing CDs. "One of the top 20 new age CDs!" -- New Age Retailer "A super album that is a must have for your store's healing and meditation section!" -- Napra Review "A wonderful synthesized smorgasbord of crystalline imagery. Spanning the vast range of spatial effects, the record affords clear musical visions--of space travel, of fantasy worlds suspended in space, of dimensions of consciousness beyond the everyday. Excellent ambient music with a strong sense of presence and direction." -- Yoga Journal "Extraordinary instrumental sound and energy designed to enhance all forms of healing & transformation." -- Isis Books

CD Reviews

New genre

"For me this was a new genre of music I had been looking for in vain. Music for meditation or relaxation is usually either too structured and melodic and distracts from the goal of ridding the mind of chatter or it is formless and I fall asleep. These three sequences, however, produce as they sweep through the psyche a state of vacant alertness if such a thing is possible and on one occasion, when animosity was a problem, the mesh of natural and synthetic sounds seemed to dab at the 'wound' and make it disappear."

"I have an extensive Jonathan Goldman CD collection because I believe his music is very special. His CDs are a collection of very special toning, created with certain intentions. This is relaxation music and is not intended for car listening, unless you are in a hurry to meet God, face-to-face that is.

There are 3 long tracks:

1) Tranquil Space (23:23)

2) Angel Dreams (22:11)

3) Peaceful Journey (26:36)

Look at those numbers! I know Jonathan had to do that on purpose! (If you play around with noticing the numbers you see, you know what I mean.) Total album time is a little over an hour for this 2007 release. As is usually the case, Jonathan includes a detailed booklet, flooding you with information to make you a little wiser about what he has actually given you in this single CD. There are 9 pages of actual info. The rest includes bios, other albums, and who participated in this CD. (I have the actual CD, rather than the download.)

The booklet explains that this CD "uses specific psychoacoustic tones and frequencies that help entrain your brain waves and synchronize your nervous system to the calm and relaxing sounds on it." (Yep! Yes, it do. It paced me down pretty fast with its imbedded theta/delta range.) Within the music you hear Andi playing the harp, the Tibetan bowls, sustained tones, and the sounds of a moving stream/water. The booklet says that silent relaxing and positive affirmations are also embedded in the music. The affirmations are listed in the booklet. The CD is designed to calm you, so you can re-balance yourself. Earphones are recommended but not mandatory. Jonathan also mentions the negative effects of stress on the body. (I agree. I have done considerable research on the subject.) He also suggests how you might use this CD to de-stress--the "how to do it" instructions.

I was at work one day recently, and although I don't usually get upset, that day came close to blitzing me out. Somebody just about plucked my last nerve, and I'm sure you know what I mean. I put this CD on and it actually helped me pace down with its soothing sustained tones. Once I paced down, I had a much better handle on the way I felt, and could mentally "talk" to myself.

OK, so here's my 2 cents. (It's free.) This is definitely a very special CD that can help you if you allow it to, and you are not too stubborn to try it. I don't care how "in control" you think you are, there is always a person or situation somewhere who is waiting to push your hot button, whether intentionally or un-intentionally. Now, if you are NOT very "in control," you need it all the more. You would be AMAZED at the damage stress can do to you over an extended period of time.

Let's do a visualization exercise here: Picture your foot on your car's gas pedal and press it down to the floor. Hold it there while the speedometer shows 140 miles per hour and the tach is in the red. Keep holding it there (mentally). Now, how long do you think it will take to damage the car? Maybe just a little damage at first. Maybe you just burn up the oil and quickly add more after it cools down. Then you do it again. Next time you maybe burn up some other part, alternator maybe. Eventually, your brand new 2010 Land Rover (or Chevy) is a worthless piece of junk, not even fit to repair. This is your body on continued, un-relenting stress. There's more, but you get the picture. Consider something like this to help you, as part of a multi-level approach to manage the stress in your life. This is a very good product and I highly recommend it. It is also excellent for use with alternative healing modalities, such as Reiki, or even to drift off to sleep with.

By the way, I actually met Jonathan and his lovely wife, Andi, at the Edgar Cayce Institute in Virginia Beach, VA. It was a pleasure to speak with them and learn from them.

Peace and Love to you. Namaste'

Just what the title says

"This album is amazing. I use it frequently. The moment it starts to play, I breathe a deep sigh of relief and find myself taking in air more deeply and regaining equilibrium and calmness. It's so soothing and beautiful as music as well; it's on the fine line between real medicinal therapy and gorgeous music and spiritual peace. One of my favorites by Jonathan Goldman...and I own more than half his collection at this point."
