CD Reviews

Warning. This is NOT the original Page of Life!!!!!

"Wow!!. Two days ago I put "Page of Life" on my sound system and I wanted to know how well or bad this album was rated. What a surprise to learn that the release shown here is missing the track titled "Is it Love". For me, this is the best one (by far) from this album. "Is it Love" was co-produced by the same duo of Jon Anderson and David Tickle who also co-produced "Loved by The Sun" with Tangerine Dream for the original soundtrack of "Legend". If you liked "Loved by The Sun" then you will like "Is it Love".

Also, on the release I have, there are 4 more tracks than the ones displayed here and they are (in the following order):

1. Wisdom Chain

2. Page of Life

3. Money

4. Jazz Box

5. Garden of Senses

6. Is it Love

7. Anyone can light a Candle

8. Be a good Friend of Mine

9. Shine for Me

10. Genevieve

11. Journey to Ixtlan

12. Little Guitar

If you like previous works from J&V like "Friends of Mr. Cairo", "State of Independence", "He is Sailing", "I'll find my way Home", then you should look for "Page of Life" with the "Is it Love" track included.

Note: That's why I'm giving it only 2 stars. But, I rate the release I have with 5 stars!!!.

Almost a bootleg, worth for completists

"This is a very special release of the last Jon and Vangelis project called "Page of Life". Unfortunately this was the one which made the duo split, due to copyrights violations. Differently from the official release, this version features a new song, "Change We Must", which is a beautiful song in the spiritual mood that Anderson set with his releases of that time, and it's maybe one of the more intense songs from the duo; the other is an extended version of "Wisdom Chain", played in a bombastic style by Vangelis, unleashing the power of his at the times new Direct tool.

It's enough music for completist collectors, the sounds are beautiful, on the other hand if you're looking for better Jon and Vangelis I'd suggest to buy "Short Stories" first."
Buy Both Versions !

"I have both versions, the original 1991 release and this one. The Remastering/remixing...not sure how much there is of each, is much better on this disc. You here bits of music missing or hidden from the original release and Andersons voice is much clearer. My advice is to buy both discs, create a new CD - for personal use of course - with all the tracks from this release and the additional tracks from the original release. You then have a stunning 64 minute Jon and Vangelis Release which includes the wonderful 'Change We Must'....Enjoy.."
