CD Reviews

There are better choices out there

"While this CD does offer a wide variety of dances all in one place, I don't care for the quality of music. I teach ballroom dancing and have competed in the past, and I find the music largely uninteresting at best and annoying (ie, Susan's vocals could use some work and the tempo tends to wander at times) at worst. Some of the male vocals are excellent (Roger), but sparse. There are much better dance cd's out there for similar prices."
Great Dancing MUSIC

"Songs like the interesting Chibalico Cha Cha and the Glory of Love were really great. I am a ballroom Dancer of many years and really enjoyed the diversity on this album."
Cool sounds! - superb value!

"I came across the advertisement for this collection at a dance studio in Sacramento California, near where I live. I'm always looking for real big band arrangements in steady tempos representative of the dances I most like to do. (Trust me, they are not easy to find). I've heard John and Susan and the groups of talent they employ at a number of live performances in the area and I recalled they always draw a classy crowd. So, I figured their big band recording effort would be worth a shot.I find the Skinner's tempos are 100% strict, and the selections fit the dances they are aimed at perfectly. This is a real find folks, especially if you are, or think you might become, interested in classic and contemporary ballroom dancing.Buy it, slap it in at a family gathering and everybody from the teenagers to the grandparents will be impressed. Better still, take some dance lessons, throw a party around this CD and show your friends and associates your poise and grace and good taste in music and smooth movement.Eighteen cuts for less than a buck and a quarter each with tax? I'm in! So are those for whom I need a neat Christmas present, such as to bring to the myriad of open houses I attend each holiday season. (Be different! Your hosts will remember you for your gift this fourth of July, and next Christmas, and way after they've drunk all the damn bottles of wine everybody else gave them!)This is a steal people. Pick it up. Period."
