Synopsis

Product Description
From the liner notes of the CD, John Goldsby writes: Artists today have far-reaching dreams and even further-reaching capabilities. Jazz lives, and musicians still search their souls, realize their fantasies and confront their nightmares. I made this CD to present my viewpoint, to capture the prevailing moods that describe my place in the world. I play serious music, but without pretense. I want to feel good, cop a groove, and have a ball. I want you to have a ball too . . . In the last seven years, my life has changed dramatically. I left the commotion and fuss of New York City to work on my music and grow with my family in an artistically-conducive, supportive European lifestyle. My last CD, "Tale of the Fingers," (Concord Records, 1994) dealt with the spirits who haunt every bassist's playing: Charles Mingus, Paul Chambers, Sam Jones, Oscar Pettiford and Jimmy Blanton. "Tale of the Fingers" was a glimpse into the development of jazz bass playing - an historical journal documenting the sound of jazz from a bassist's perspective. But that was then and this is now. Featuring: John Goldsby, Bass Frank Chastenier, Piano Hans Dekker, Drums John Marshall, Trumpet, Flugelhorn Olivier Peters, Tenor & Soprano Saxophone Hayden Chisholm, Alto Saxophone
