Bravado is singer/songwriter John Brannen's third release for Sly Dog Records and sixth album overall. Acclaimed for his Americana/Rock/Country sound (with a little Roots/Twang mixed in), Brannen has been hailed by No Depression magazine as an original hybrid, while Billboard has called him versatile and rewarding.
On this project, co-produced with David Z (Prince, Fine Young Cannibals, Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd) and backed by some of the finest players around, Brannen, a Charleston native, delivers 11 tracks that while rooted in the South, are universal in their themes. The songs are crafted with Brannen's trademark scholarly imagery that is brought to life by his emotive and ragged tenor, which switches easily from road worn to rockin. From the anthemic in-your-face opener Raised A Rebel, to the plaintive closer Between The Concrete and The Moon, Bravado is both emotional and raw.
