CD Reviews

Very nice reading of the inventions and sinfonias
Michael Newman | Long Beach, CA USA | 04/28/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a very beautiful and balanced rendition of Bach's pedagogicial keyboard works, the 2 and 3 part inventions (sinfonias). (Make no mistake -- these are masterpieces. For Bach, "exercises" and "lessons" were a pretext for create works of high art). Leonhardt's harpsichord playing manages to be at once controlled and emotional. His playing of the E-flat major, F-Minor, and G-minor sinfonias are particularly beautiful and heartfelt. At a budget price, this is a sure winner."
