"Joey and his trio have done an amazing job. This disc offers a delicious mix of experiment and tradition. The eight tunes are carefully selected and Joey, saxophonist Jerry Weldon and drummer Byron Landham

groove and swing together in truly inimitable fashion. I tend to think these guys fit so perfectly together that they could steal from each other's pockets. Gone should be the days when Joey was referred to as "the late Jimmy Smiths disciple" - Joey has been an established artist in his own right for quite a long time now, and in subtlety and economy of phrasing he even surpasses his late hero.

The record is recorded superbly - never had I heard the sound of a drumkit so faithfully reproduced until I bought this CD."
