CD Reviews

Better than a near-death experience
Erica Anderson | 08/29/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is really awesome and I am known for having excellent taste in music and owning CD's no one else has heard before. I heard it a few weeks ago at a friend's house as we were drinking wine and looking at the ocean, and it absolutely MADE the afternoon, you know what I'm saying? We were talking about near death experiences and this CD elevated the buzz and the sense of serenity. It gave me chills. I felt like "wow, this is the way I felt the first time I heard Enigma" but it's more soothing than Enigma and just... different. She made me a copy and I've since played it when other people were over and everyone asks me what it is. People stop talking mid-sentence and say, "who is this? God, I love her voice." It's a compilation alubum and every piece is different but it all flows together well. Personally, I like music that feels etherial but edgy or unexpected, and I love a good beat. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be carried away on sound that sometimes feels like music you might hear at a coctail lounge between earth and heaven. I'm now trying to buy CD's from most of the individual artist's who contributed."
An enchanting cd

"I first came across "Angeli" a month or two ago when I was perusing the club section at Cheapo Records (shameless plug). I was intrigued by the Da Vinci-like record cover of two angels. The picture looked like it could be part of the mural Da Vinci painted on the Sistine Chapel's ceiling. I almost bought it but didn't at the time. I'm glad I didn't 'cause I found a used copy of the cd yesterday. I bought it along with B-Tribe's "5", and Nelly Furtado's "Folklore". What I heard on "Angeli" is nothing short of a heavenly experience. The intoxicating melodies and breathtaking vocals like on "My Heart" had such a calming effect on my soul. I absolutely loved what I heard. After a hard day at the office, I need something to listen to that will soothe me and "Angeli" is the ideal cd to listen to. I love how the various musical styles weaves in and out through out the cd with ease. The songs just flows well together which is always important to me 'cause I like a cd like "Angeli" to flow cohesively together and not unevenly, and "Angeli" just does that perfectly despite the different musical styles that ranges throughout the cd. For fans of the Buddha Bar series, I strongly recommend this particular cd."
