Product DescriptionMusic for Squares Erik Ian Walker, piano Joe Cunningham, guitar All instrumental traditional folk. Joe Cunningham grew up in Michigan, the son of a factory worker and a bus driver. Appalachian and country music were the soundtrack of his youth, until he discovered rock and roll and decided to acquire untold riches and fame by playing his electric guitar too much, too loud. Whenever Joe?s dad, Jim, heard one of his songs, he?d say "What?s wrong with ?Little Brown Jug??" Joe paid him no mind, but kept at his finger pickin?. When Joe?s dad passed away in 2004, he asked Erik to help him record some of his dad?s favorite old-time songs for his friends and family. Something about the combination of these two old friends and the emotional connection they found with these simple songs produced a unique sound - true to the spirit of the old songs, but distinctly modern and fresh. Joe now resides in San Francisco and has performed across the country most recently with his one-man musical production Joe the Quilter, as a compliment to the quilting workshops he teaches all over North America. (He?s married, ladies, and has two sons.) Erik is an accomplished musician, performer, producer, and teacher, and recorded Music for Squares in his music studio. As two established Bay Area musicians, Cunningham and Walker are introducing their audience to Music for Squares with exciting results, and the good word is spreading fast. Their first pressing of CDs sold out in days. From house concerts to popular music venues, their fans are letting them know they have found something special. Someday they?ll even get around to Little Brown Jug. Visit joethequilter.com to catch up with Joe, and visit wackoworldmusic.com for Bottomfeeder Records, and more about Erik Ian Walker.
