Synopsis

Album Description
An eclectic debut from Nashville-based singer-songwriter Joe Croker, "All The Pretty Girls" is produced by Bonnie Raitt sideman George Marinelli, Jr. Recorded at Wing-Ding Studios, the cd features top flight Nashville session players who negotiate a broad current of styles--from rock to country, retro to swing. At base, Croker is a Midwestern lyricist in the Dylan, Mellencamp mold, but the musicians on this release jettison him to broad corners of a compelling musical map.

CD Reviews

Joe Croker: A Brilliant Artist Whose Time is NOW
06/23/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard Joe Croker in a small venue in Lawrence, Kansas in the early 90's. He was nothing short of brilliant then, and (if possible) he is even better now. His voice and his songwriting are truly elemental. I hope this disc breaks Joe's music to the country in a big way, because his talent deserves it. Buy this recording!! You WILL NOT be disappointed!!"

"This is an album by a gifted singer songwriter full of tunes that will stay with you and lyrics that will give you something to think about. I came upon this album after I heard "Mighty Hard Pleasure" performed by another artist and wanted to hear more from it's originator. If you like catchy tunes, if you like Dylan and Joni Mitchell lyrics and you aren't afraid of the toe tapping country sound, you just might love this cd like I do."
