Synopsis

Album Description
Jo Fletcher has always been inspired by thoughtful lyrics and emotive music. This album began with the Heart and the Shield with lyrics by Andy Topping the music Jo wrote on a piano and recorded initially in Ian Maidmans (Penguin Café Orchestra and Culture Club) home studio. At that time She met Lizzie Moore who asked Jo to sing and interpret her lyrics and melodies. She also wrote lyrics for Jo's existing music and a great musical partnership evolved. In 1983, after playing live around London's familiar music venues the opportunity to record an album presented itself. This gave me the further opportunity to involve some of the finest musicians and friends that Jo knew in producing the songs the way they had hoped they could. Jo asked Paul Whittaker who had been producing demos with them to produce the full album. Murray Head ('Say It Ain't So', 'One Night in Bangkok') sang on 'Treat U right'. Seminal legend Robert Wyatt (Soft Machine and Matching Mole) contributed vocals on both 'Dare' and 'Lucky Day'. As Jo says ' I was indeed lucky that Robert was recording next door and liked the songs'. If that wasn't enough of amazing legends just joining in Charles O Connor (Horslips) adds mystery with his superb violin work. Ian Maidman played all the live drum tracks in a day. Reflecting on this album finally coming out on CD, Jo admits 'it was probably the best musical experience of my life'. Voiceprint has built the reputation of re-discovering long lost musical gems. This album is one such gem ? enjoy!
