CD Reviews

A great Holiday album.

"When Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers bounced (or hopped!) from record label to record label in the mid-90s, several of Jive Bunny's previous albums were re-released under new titles. This one, "Spectacular Christmas" for example, was previously known as "Jive Bunny's Christmas Party". The CD cover may have been different, but everything else was exactly the same. Please don't be fooled like I was. This is a fabulous album though. Mixing a whole plethora of classic Yuletide tunes into one elongated megamix is just what your Christmas party needs. The only **small** crtiticism is the tracks used are mainly those from British artists that found success in the British charts. But don't let that put you off buying this, as you really are in for a treat. Yes, sound-a-likes are used to re-create these songs, but the majority of them sound spookily like who they're supposed to be. And with a track line-up that includes well-established artists such as: Elton John, Queen, Elvis, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Bing Crosby, David Bowie, Mariah Carey, Johnny Mathis (to name but a few found on this CD), all singing your favourite Christmas classics, this is an album you won't stop playing during the run-up to Christmas. There's also a fantastic collection of Christmas carols here too - even if this is meant to be a party album - plus the entire "Phil Spector's: A Christmas Present To You" album (featuring the genuine artists) is also here in megamix form. "The Christmas Doo-Wop Megamix" puts a whole new slant on your favourite festive tunes, while the 70s section of the album is a part you'll want to play over and over (and over!) again.I bought the original version of this album in 1994 to play at a party I was hosting, and I never imagined I'd be playing it all night because those present loved it so much. And as a DJ, you go with what people want. Now that's what I call a recommendation!Jon."
