CD Reviews

The quintessential song stylist of our time...

"Jimmy Scott is simply the greatest stylist of this century. And this CD is the best example of that. This; his very first album re-released from the original recordings puts you literally into the studio for the session. His career has been renewed in the past few years and it's about time! Check the liner notes for the all-star line-up compiled here for Little Jimmy to shine with. During "everybody needs somebody" you can hear the musicians screaming "go, go!" to the sax player who is about to wail the solo. Jimmy's voice is crystal clear and as strong as ever today as it was then... he still possesses the uncanny ability to punch and hold a note as he does in "when did you leave heaven?" Has there ever been anyone who has interpreted a song like Jimmy Scott can? I don't think so... This is a MUST CD for any fan of vocal Jazz and Blues. See him live and maybe he'll autograph your copy as he did mine recently, he is such a nice man a true gentleman and deserving of all he is reaping... Congratulations on your long awaited and well deserved comback Mr. Scott."

"I first heard him when I was a teenager. My Mom was a singer and she bought one of his recordings. When I asked her what was her name,Mom said some woman wished she had that voice. I must say he got my full attention I have never heard time on my hands done better. Folks you better wake up and give him his props while he can enjoy it. Jimmy you are the baddest dude singing today.Sbaksd124@aol.com"
