Synopsis

Product Description
After three albums fronting alt rock band Ours, Jimmy Gnecco's first solo album is arguably the most personal and affecting work of his career. Self-produced and titled 'The Heart,' it's a watershed work which sees Jimmy drop his guard and raise the bar. We all have to reckon with loss and the events that have shaped us sooner or later, and this record is Gnecco's compelling attempt to do just that. Though Jimmy plays every instrument on the album, it's his evocative, soulful voice that takes centre stage, creating 15 songs with a potent mix of intimacy, integrity and beautiful melancholy.

"Jimmy Gnecco's solo album The Heart is beautiful, and quite honestly heartfelt. It's sadness may be to hard for some to take. I recommend this to anyone who has been following Jimmy over the past couple decades. I stumbled upon him on accident when Distorted Lullabies came out, and have been a slave to his tormented and beautifully placed sadness. His career has had highs and lows, Precious stands out as a really low point in my opinion, save Red Colored Flowers. But here on The Heart he is completely stripped down and purely basic, the emotion is so raw and real, if you take the time to let it settle in, you will feel it too, just like I have. So take a chance on this unique and honest artist who makes music that he really loves.

From His Heart ...to OURS.

"Jimmy Gnecco has created one of the most beautiful records that I've had the pleasure to hear in some time.

Being a fan of his and OURS since Distorted Lullabies, I thought I knew what to expect when I heard he was working on new material for a solo record, also considering some of these songs have been played out live for almost a decade.

What I received was something more.

The songs are stripped down for the most part, often just voice and guitar. When instrumentation is used, it is used wisely and with perfect placement to accent and build upon the foundation of the music.

Which brings me to the main instrument, Jimmy's voice, as flawless as ever, brought to the forefront sonically and when I think I've heard all he could do, he manages to impress me even more. His choice of layering, harmonies, when to control his voice, use his falsetto and when to belt out his trademark screams are all delicately laid out and something he has the ability to do effortlessly.

This is a somber record; a large part is inspired about the death of his mother, as said by Jimmy himself, so it's hard to not feel the pain of trying to hold on to, then eventually losing someone close.

'The Heart' is as open and honest as the cover portrays it to be.

No auto tune,

No studio trickery,

Just pure talent and emotion.

The songs are well written and a sound that can only be Gnecco's.

"The Heart" (the song) is original and incomparable to any other song in general, and you can feel his screams coming from deep within his soul.

"Patiently Waiting" includes one of his most dynamic vocal performances with a beautiful piano taking over the main instrumentation.

"Talk To Me" builds to a climax that leaves you just sitting there wanting more and is probably his best crafted song to date.

I defy you listen to 'Light On The Grave' without instantly wanting weep for no apparent reason, not even guys are safe from what Jimmy evokes emotionally.

What I like most about this record is that it's the voice of OURS without sounding like an OURS record, which is what I feared most. It's its own entity, with its own sound, its own atmosphere, its own...heart.

Thank you Jimmy."
