"I first saw Jim Silvers perform in early 1979 at a cafe in Venice, CA. Then, as now, he had the clear, true voice of a cowboy, paired with the savvy, macho look of a Chicago mobster. At the end of his performance, I immediately bought (on sale in the back of the cafe) his album "You gotta Let All the Girls Know You're a Cowboy" and have been listening to it for the last 20 years. Each song has a worthwhile moral slipped in so that you're singing along before you even realize there's a lesson involved ("If the grass is lookin' greener, better water your own lawn"). I am truly grateful to find this CD so that I may spend another 20 years reveling in this delightful combination of bluegrass, country, and blues, so eloquently composed and performed."
