"I had been a big fan of Loggins and Messina and was curious what was going to happen to their sound once they went their separate ways. I bought both of their 1st solo albums post L & M and while Loggins did a pretty credible job with his, he used some studio musicians and it just didn't seem true to him. Oasis on the other hand was a revelation. Jim had gotten together with a bunch of friends and musicians who really seemed to bring the full emotional content of Jim's songs to fruition and were blazing hot on their instruments as well. His sound was 180 degrees from the L & M sound and one could tell he really felt like stretching his musical muscles. His back up band played so tastefully in support of his songs that it was easy to tell how invested they were in helping him bring his aural vision to life, I bought this when it 1st came out and it, sadly, disappeared way too quickly from the scene and I have been looking to get this on CD for many years and I am so glad to have it again. It is one of those rare CDs that is just as good and relevant today as when it 1st came out 27 years ago. Not too many musicians or albums can that be said for nowadays."
