CD Reviews

Great late 80's pop in the perfect format
Pat Kelly | Here, There & Everywhere | 10/27/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When the Millennium Collections began, the criticism was that there were better collections available for most artists, cheaper catalog items, or that the collections were either too narrow for major artists (Rod Stewart, Supremes, The Who) or too broad for obscure artists (Burt Bacharach, Rita Coolidge). But for the late 80's band, The Jets, this format fits like a glove. The Jets were a family band, eight brothers and sisters of the Wolfgramm family. (In fact two other brothers not in this band formed the duo Boys Club.) They got their name from the fictional band in Elton John's "Bennie & the Jets".Between 1986 & 1989, the band had 10 charted hits, all represented here. (If there's another CD in this series that has both the complete hits of the artist and minimal filler, I can't find it.) Five of the Jets songs went top ten nationally. They're the hits you recognize: the up-tempo dance numbers "Crush On You" and "Cross my Broken Heart", the better than average ballads "You Got It All" and "Make It Real", and the "lite-Prince" funk of "Rocket 2 U". The Jets are not one of the bands you think of as a big 80's pop band, but you'll find yourself singing along to hit after hit. Nothing too deep or groundbreaking, but good pop well done, and that's reward enough."Baaaaby, I can rocket 2 U
Hoooney, the only thing I can do.""
Miss the 80s?
Colin McRaleigh | 08/10/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"If you miss the fun of 80s pop, this CD is good enough for you. A couple of the ballads really struck me with memories - "You Got It All" brought me back to watching its video, and "Make It Real" put me at my 8th grade dance. All the dance tracks are upbeat and fun and i had memories of some of them - hearing " crush on you" on the way to the beach. "Cross my broken heart" placed me at the pool in 1987. Fun and upbeat describes what the 80s were about. Maybe that's whats been missing from America for the past 16 years anyway."
Great Family Music Group
blstheone | Los Angeles, CA United States | 04/28/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Like the other 8 or 9 family member bands that preceeded the Jets, i.e., the Jacksons, the Sylvers, the Osmonds, the DeBarge family, and the Sledge sisters-Sister Sledge that is, the Jets (the Wolfgram family) were a great music group that had a very talented lead singer in Elizabeth Wolfgram (why Elizabeth was not able to carve out a solo career is a mystery to me). She had such a pure and innocent voice. This is a great c.d. of great 80's pure pop music. Get it, you will enjoy it!"
