Glamorous Hard Rock Heaven!!!
Nikiforos V. Skoumas | Athens Greece, Cambridge UK | 08/07/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"`Jettblack' is a glam hard rock band from the UK and `Get your hands dirty' is their second album. I first became aware of the group as they opened for `Reckless love' during their latest 2010 UK tour. Frankly I was really looking forward to this release since. Having reviewed a few UK bands of this genre, I have to agree that `Jettblack' is one of those cases where everything seems to fall into place: Great compositions, powerful performances, great looks, tons of style and of course awesome front cover.

The band consists of Jon Dow (g,v), Will Stapleton (g,v), Tom Wright (b) and Matt Oliver (d). The party atmosphere on this release is unequalled, but make no mistake it is all guitar oriented, macho sung 80s influenced hard rock; the choruses are huge, the solos ripping and the rhythm parts extra thick! Also the production of Dan Weller and Justin Hill is too good; as the material sounds fresh, colorful while retaining that late-80s atmosphere.

Additionally the photo concept of the album; demonstrating the band in a room filled with black ink to their hips is one of the most glamorous pictures I have seen in awhile.

I suppose the musical depth of `Jettblack' and their substantial material will make `Get your hands dirty' an equally appealing release to both die-hard glam metallers as well as fans of classic hard rock. It would not be an exaggeration to suggest that `Get you hands dirty' hits the mark in every aspect whether that being the music, the production, the image, the concept, "Jetblack" got it all perfect on this second album.

If you are a fan of 'Taking Dawn', 'Reckless Love', 'Steel Panther' or 'Crashdiet' this is an ideal addition to your collection.
